Attention all 6th Grade Families:

Hunter College High Schools (HCHs) is one of the oldest schools in the nation dedicate to intellectually and academically advanced students. It is publicity financed (tuition-free), chartered by the Board of trustees of the City University of New York, and administrated by Hunter College. HCHS is a coeducational laboratory school organized specifically to serve the spectrum of New York City’s junior and senior high school population (grades 7-12) who would benefit from an advanced academic program. The only entry point to HCHS is the seventh grade.

The eligibility criteria for the January 8th 2016 HCHS Entrance Exam are 1)NYC residency and 2) verified 5th grade NYS Spring 2015 scaled scores at or above 346 in Reading AND at or above 358 in Mathematics, or test scores that meet or exceed the 90th percentile on a nationally standardized reading AND mathematics test. Principals may write a letter of recommendation to enable students who do not have any 5th grade scores to sit for a Qualifying exam on November 21, 2015

If your child did not take the Spring Math & ELA state exams and you believe their academic report cards place them within the top 90% of their class and would like us to consider recommending them to take the Qualifying Exam, please email DZaengle@schoosl.ncy.gov (your guidance counselor0 by October 15th.

Please refer to the Hunter College HS website for further information. (www.hunterschools.org/hs)
